Wow, what a crappy year 2020 was to celebrate Christmas!

The problem:
At Publicis Sapient we were all lucky enough to keep our jobs, even though we spent almost the whole of 2020 working from home going slightly nuts with child care, homeschooling, and having our dogs and partners constantly looking to go out for walks :-)

With this in mind, how do we come together as an organisation, when we can't physically come together as an organisation?

The solution:
Create a fully interactive online experience where everyone can join in, collaborate, and chat via text messaging. With this in mind we created the Crappy Christmas Party.

This is all well and good, however, there are those that are less fortunate than ourselves, and we wanted to recognise this by ensuring that we built in a charitable element to our virtual Christmas party experience. We knew that people were going to struggle to put food on the table, this year more than ever, so we donated all of the funds that we would have spent on a buffet to the First Love Foundation food bank. All of the money we would have spent on music went to We Make Events and all of the money we would have spent on a venue went to Shelter to help the homeless. Instead of getting a Christmas tree, we contributed to World Land Trust to protect forests, and we donated to Mind to support mental health. The addition of our very own 'Not so Secret Santa' button enabled our colleagues to make their own charitable donations as well.

The result:
So, as we couldn't all get together, the Crappy Christmas Party was born, a virtual, interactive 360 degree tour of our café, populated with dozens of props, and dressed-up shop window mannequins, featuring loads of clickable activities, downloads and videos.

We built a crappy Christmas party for our staff so others less fortunate could have a better one.
